Many relatives figure in BJP lists in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Nov 14 (UNI) Familial ties with prominent leaders also helped several aspirants to get BJP tickets for the December 4 Assembly polls in Rajasthan.
About a dozen, of close relatives of prominent leaders have figured in two lists of 137 candidates announced by the ruling saffron party so far.
At least four relatives of prominent leaders got nominations in the list of 43 candidates released by the party yesterday.
Among them party veteran former Minister Bhanwar Lal Sharma's daughter Manju Sharma has been allotted ticket from Hawamahal constituency in the state capital at the cost of sitting party MLA Surendra Pareek.This seat was earlier held by her father for several terms in a row.
She will contest against Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma's son Brij Kishore Sharma (Congress).
Similarly, sitting party MP Krishna Lal Valmiki's dauther-in-law got party ticket from Kapasan(SC) and sitting MP Subhash Mehariya's close relative Banshidhar Bajia has been fielded from Khandela in Sikar district. Despite his defeat in the last election, Bajia succeeeded in getting the party's favour.
Former Minister of State Virendra Meena, who had quit the Ministerial post in the wake of Gujjar agitation, has been denied party ticket but his father retired Divisional Railway Manager Rajkumar Meena has been picked up by the party instead from Lalsot constituency.
In the first list too, a number of relatives of prominent political personalities got tickets.
Sitting MP Ramsingh Kaswan's wife Kamla has been allowed to seek her maiden entry to the state legislature from Sadulpur constituency where as former Minister late Sampat Ram's son Dr Jagdish Sampatram has been fielded from Alwar-Rural for his maiden run for.
Likewise, former Minister late Lalchand Dudi's son Jagdeep was making debut from his father's traditional bastion Bhadra in Hanumangarh district.
However, the ruling party's list of candidates with familial ties with politicians, could not exceed that of the Congress which had fielded over two dozen candidates in the class.
