Khwaja Bande Nawaz urs begins tomorrow
Gulbarga, Nov 14 (UNI) The 5-day 604th Urs-e-Sharief of the 14th century Sufi Saint Bazrath Khwaja Bande Nawaz Gesudaraz would begin here on November 15.
More than one lakh devotees of different religions from across the country would visit the Darga to offer obeisance.
The significance of the religious event is that the Hindu devotees outnumber the Muslim devotees as large number of people from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka throng to the famous Sharief Darga located in the heart of the city.
Khwaja Bande Nawaz was a disciple of Hazrath Khwaja Fir Naseeruddin Mahamood, popularly known as Chirag Delhi. the Khwaja was a prolific writer is considered to be the first prose writer in Urdu and has penned 195 books.
Darga sources said that a nuga religion procession would be taken out as on opening ceremony. As part of five-day Urs-e-Sharief a number of cultural and religious programmes would be held.
