Chandigarh, Nov 14 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to integrate telemedicine with tele-education to reach out of more rural areas in India, Dr A Bhaskaranarayana, Scientific Secretary, ISRO, said today.
''We strive to provide a more advanced and user friendly services required for the Indian population, using space assets and also integrating with other areas like Information Technology, Medicine, Education and many more'', he said.
He was inaugurating the Telemedicon-08, the 4th National Conference of Telemedicine Society of India at the Post Gratuate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here.
The ISRO's telemedicine project was started in the year 2001 with the aim of introducing the speciality healthcare facility to the grassroot level population as part of ''proof of concept'' and ''technology demonstration'' programme, he said.
