ISPD conference unveiled on "Children's Day" in Kolkata
Kolkata, Nov 14 (UNI) The sixth national conference of Indian Society for Paediatric Dermatology (ISPD) began here today on the "Children's Day" to discuss remedial measures to prevent skin diseases in infants and children.
About 300 hundred renowned paediatric dermatologists from across the country are participating in the two-day conference, the first such conference in eastern India.
Speaking on the occasion, ISPD Chairperson (Organising and Scientific Committee) Dr Sandipan Dhar said children should be given a healthy and disease free life as they were " foundation of future nation." " We will deliberate on a package of health advices and guidelines to keep children healthy and fit. Taking care of their skin is of utmost importance as it forms the outermost cover of the body and acts as 'border security force' for the external harmful agents," Dr Dhar observed.
He also pointed out that nearly 50 per cent of skin problems pertained to pediatric age group as per latest researches and reviews worldwide.
Dr Dhar informed that various skin allergies and their most effective treatment would be discussed in the conference besides using of oral and local steroid application for skin diseases in infants and children.
" We know that there are lots of myths and misconnects about the use of steroids in babies. We will deal with this issue at length so that child specialists and also the general doctors are not frightened to use steroid as and when required," Dr Dhar maintained.
