Karnal, Nov 14 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today reiterated his commitment that whenever expansion of Haryana Cabinet would take place, a member of Brahmin community would be inducted in the Cabinet.
The Chief Minister, while addressing a function of Saraswat Brahmin Sabha on its Foundation Day here, also stressed that due representation had been given to the community in the appointment of Chairmen of various Boards and Corporations.
The Chief Minister said a total of 14 ministers could be inducted in the Haryana Cabinet and after the resignation of Ambala MLA, Mr Vinod Sharma, one post of a minister has fallen vacant.
He claimed that Congress party was the only party in the country which had given due regard and representation to the Brahmin community and the first Chief Minister of the state was Bhagwat Dayal Sharma, a Brahmin.
Mr Hooda said that Congress party was the biggest party at the national level and also in Haryana. While INLD and BJP were main opposition parties in the state, the Haryana Janhit Congress Party had no existence, he claimed.
The Chief Minister said due representation had been given to the Brahmin community in the state as Hansraj Bhardwaj was made member of Rajya Sabha. Two Vice Chancellors of the universities and three chairmen of Boards and Corporations in the state were Brahmins.
He reminded that the when oath was administered to Mr Vinod Sharma to induct him in State Cabinet, he was at number two.
Mr Hooda announced a sum of Rs 21 lakh for the construction of the Bhawan of Saraswat Sabha. He said the vacant land of HUDA adjacent to the Bhawan would be given to the Sabha on priority basis after examining the case.
He said the land which had been given to the Brahmins in ''Dolli'' would be allotted to them if rules permitted so.
Mr Sharma also announced to give a sum of Rs five lakh to the Sabha.
While presiding over the function, former Union Minister and MLA Ambala, Mr Sharma said the interests of Brahmin community were safe in the hands of the Chief Minister.
