Srinagar, Nov 14: Srinagar and its adjoining areas today experienced season's first snowfall, disrupting normal life.
Treetops, rooftops, electric pools and roads had turned white as the people woke up this morning.
The summer capital of the Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar and its adjoining areas experienced about half a feet snowfall since early, resulting in considerable cold, disrupting power, telephone and road communication.
The power supply in the entire Srinagar city and adjoining areas remained disrupted as the transmission lines were affected due to snowfall.
Snow clearance was carried out only on few selected routes in the city, while all other routes remained under six inches of snow.
The upper reaches, including world famous ski resort of Gulmarg also experienced heavy snowfall since yesterday.
Reports from different parts of the valley said it was snowing heavily.
The holy shrine of Amarnath and its periphery also experienced two to three feet of fresh snowfall since yesterday morning. About one to two feet of snowfall was also recorded at Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pisso top and Panjtherni.
A report from Baramulla said one to three feet of snowfall was recorded in the upper reaches of north Kashmir since yesterday.
