Aizawl, Nov 14 (UNI) Concerned over ''communal politics'', the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) has asked political parties to revoke all the pre-poll agreements they have inked with community-based outfits.
The CYMA move targetted the two major political parties - the ruling Mizo National Front and largest Opposition Mizoram Pradesh Congress - which have struck pre-poll deals with community-based political organisations.
Even as the MNF has made a pre-poll tie with Hmar People's Convention (joint blocks committee) based in Sinlung hills development council and Maraland Democratic Front of the Mara ADC, the Congress has tied up with the Malsawma Darngawn faction of HPC.
Both parties promised development programmes for the respective councils if elected to power.
''The YMA, which embraces all the Mizo tribes, has been denouncing communalism and any form of divisive politics in the land of the Mizos,'' a central executive reiterated today.
Making the YMA's stance clear, a central YMA leader said, ''We will ensure that the political parties revoke the agreements they have signed with community-based organisations.'' UNI ZS DPM RN1531
