Vishaal Diwan held on occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti
Hyderabad, Nov 13 (UNI) The three-day festivities of the 539th birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh religion, concluded today, with thousands of Sikh devotees and other community faiths participating in the Vishaal Diwan (Mass congregation) at NTR Stadium, near Indira Park.
The mass congregation, jointly organised under the aegis of Prabhandak Committees, Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazar, and Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad, was attended by over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh devotees and other community faith, a press release here said.
The congregation, which was held from 1100 hrs to 1630 hrs, was marked by recitations of Gurubani Keertans and Kathas (Holy hymns) by renowned Ragi Jathas (Sikh Preachers) specially invited from various parts of the country for the important occasion. The shabad Keertans stressed on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony for which Guru Nanak Dev strived for.
They also threw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus, who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony and asked the devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev.
After the culmination of the congregation, the traditional Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) was served to all the devotees, irrespective of their status, caste, colour and creed, sitting in the same row with great discipline, promoting the feelings of togetherness, fraternity and concern for fellow human beings.
