Visakhapatnam, Nov 13 (UNI) Andhra Cricket Association vice president P R Narayanaswami today said the floodlights facility being installed in the Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association (VDCA) stadium here would be ready by December this year.
The floodlights, being installed at a cost of Rs 6 crore by the Kolkata based Philips company, would pave way for conducting Day- Night ODI matches in the stadium from January next whenever allotted by the BCCI, he told UNI here.
''This would be a New Year gift for cricket lovers in this fast growing city,'' he said.
In addition to the floodlights, a large scoreboard would also be put up and the change room for umpires renovated, he said.
With these facilites this ground would be eligible for Test status besides being the second stadium to have floodlights facility, in Andhra Pradesh, he said.
The stadium would also become the second venue in Andhra Pradesh to state Test and ODI matches, he said.
