SSI slams Govt over erratic power supply
Bangalore, Nov 13: The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association on Thursday, Nov 13 came down heavily on the state government for not ensuring quality power supply to industries which faced drastic drop in production due to shortage.
KASSIA President Arvind N Burji said it was incomprehensible to think of three to four hours of power outages on a working day.
SSIs were suffering as power interruptions had become very frequent.
The agreement of the staggering holiday reached between the Association and the State government, which assured uninterrupted power for six day's in the week, had not been adhered to, the association accused.
''It will be impossible to gain a competitive edge by the state based SSI's with such bad quality of power supply. Process industries like plastic, foundry and steel have been worst hit. The SSI sector stands totally dejected and let down by the authorities concerned,'' he said.
It was crucial in the current context that SSIs maintain quality, credibility and strength but it was suffering on this front for no fault of theirs.
