Pathanamthitta, Nov 13 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said various schemes costing Rs 4.35 crore have been implemented by the State Electricity Board in connection with the 'Mandalam-Makaravilakku' pilgrimage season at Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple.

Talking to mediapersons at Pampa after a review meeting, he said underground power cables were laid from Angamoozhy to the main base camp at Nilackal.

He said power connection was provided to all pumping stations at Sabarimala to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to the pilgrims.

Mr Balan said a mini-hydel project would soon come up at Chenthamarakkokka, near Chalakkayam. Four check-dams would be constructed in river Pampa.

Anathode dam would be opened, when necessary, to flush out the filth collected in river Pampa during the pilgrimage peak periods, he said and added that a sum of Rs 1.65 crore was spent to electrify Kochu Pampa and Thriveni.

The Minister said 10,000 tubelights were installed at Sabarimala, Pampa and Nilackal and 18 transformers were set up at Sannidhanam, eight at Pampa and five at Nilackal.

In case of any hitch at Moozhiyar power station, electricity would be brought from Pallom to Sabarimala via Peermade, he added.
