Bhubaneswar, Nov13 (UNI) The 2045 Bhubaneswar-Raipur Express was stranded near Charbatia, about 40 km from here, as the driver was seriously injured after miscreants threw stones at the train.
The East Coast Railway(ECoR) sources said one stone hit the front glass of the engine and the broken glass pieces pierced the eye of the driver, forcing him to stop the train.
The incident took place at around 2045 hrs and since then, the train was stranded near Charbatia, as the injured driver was unable to run the train with his injured eye.
Sources said arrangement has been made to rush a driver from Khurda Road division to the site so that the train could proceed further.
ECoR sources said petting stones at running trains has become a regular affair on some specific routes, causing a lot of inconvenience to the passengers.
The driver of the Bhubaneswar-Raipur Express has lodged an FIR with the local police station in connection with the incident.
