Karnataka-TN Ranji tie ends in draw

Bangalore, Nov 13 (UNI) Riding on opener K B Pawan's 84, Karnataka salvaged a humiliating defeat as their Ranji Trophy Elite 'B' group match against Tamil Nadu ended in a draw.

Resuming at overnight score of 48 for no loss, Pawan and Bharath Chipli (33) laid a solid foundation with 72 runs for the first wicket before Chipli was briliantly caught at long-on by Yo Mahesh off Ashwin's bowling.

Pawan also accounted for 79-run partnership with Ganesh Satish (29) for the second wicket.

Right-arm spinner Ashwin with 3 for 71 was the successful bowler for the visitors. Left-arm spinner C Suresh with 1 for 63 succeded in breaking the opening partnership when Chipli misjudged a slow ball, lifted it and Mahesh made no mistake.

The hosts were in dire-straits yesterday when the visitors forced follow-on after getting a first innings lead of 264.

By virtue of its first innings lead, Tamil Nadu gained three points, including two bonus, while the hosts had to remain contend with one point.
