Itanagar, Nov 13 (UNI) The Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) is keen to invest in Arunachal Pradesh if the state government provides the opportunity, JSPL managing director Naveen Jindal said.

Mr Jindal, a Lok Sabha MP from Haryana, affectionately known as ''flag man of India'', who was at Tawang to attend the valedictory function of the three-day mega tourism extravaganza Buddha Mahotsava on Tuesday, gave a veiled indication of his desire to establish industries in the state with innumerable potential.

''If Arunachal offers me the opportunity I would happy to avail it and work for the interest of the common man,'' he said, adding he would work in tandem with the people, honouring their sentiments.

The JSPL had already inked an agreement with the state government to execute power projects of 4,500 MW at Anini under Dibang Valley district.

The young MP was highly impressed on the scenic beauty of Tawang and termed his visit as 'memorable' as he said he dreamt of visiting this land since his childhood.

Referring to the hydro power potential of the state, the young MP said India would be illuminated and its power shortage solved if the massive hydropower of Arunachal Pradesh is harnessed.

He expressed confidence that Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu was capable of doing it with the Centre expressing confidence in his mettle to support the speedy development of this Himalayan state.

Earlier, reiterating his commitment for development of his state, Mr Khandu urged Mr Jindal to help his state to move a step forward towards industrialisation by setting up industries.
