Kochi, Nov 13 (UNI) SmartCity Kochi, a joint venture between SmartCity, Dubai, and the Kerala Government is all set to expedite the process of securing SEZ status for a project with the arrival of a high-level SmartCity delegation next week.
The officials will be meeting the District Collector and other core committee members to discuss issues relating to the proposal of sharing cost for relocating KSEB installations and other structures in the 100-acre Brahmapuram land earmarked for the project, an official release said here today.
''Today our priority is to obtain stamp duty exemption and secure the SEZ status of the project inorder to start construction.
We have been and will continue to do everything in our hands to remove the bottlenecks and expedite the project,'' said CEO of SmartCity and SmartCity Kochi Fareed Abdulrahman in the release.
SmartCity Kochi has in principle agreed to relocate the PWD road at its own cost. However, this has to be approved by the board members and the alternate road will be laid by the company as per international standards and handed over to the District Administration, the release added.
In the last Board of Directors' meeting, SmartCity officials, in the presence of Fisheries Minister S Sarma, who is also the Chairman of SmartCity Kochi, confirmed that construction of the project would start only after getting the SEZ notification and other statutory compliances.
