Raipur, Nov 13 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to take action against an assistant returning officer (RO) after detection of fake voters in Bhilai assembly constituency.
''After perusing details, it was found that 951 voters were included after publication of final electoral rolls on September 30.
The Asst RO responsible for inclusion of these voters will be punished as per the law,'' state Chief Electoral Officer Alok Shukla said here today.
Two complaints about distribution of money were received by the ECI and in both cases first information reports were registered.
While one case was registered against Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Mahendra Karma, who is the Congress candidate from Dantewada, another case was lodged against Mr Ramdayal Uike in Korba district.
Two cases -- by BJP and Congress candidates against each other -- were also registered in Vaishali Nagar constituency over sari distribution.
