Puducherry: ESIC delegation visits Govt medical college
Puducherry, Nov 13: A ten-member delegation from Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) led by Finance commissioner Rajiv Dutt on Thursday, Nov 13 visited the government medical college building proposed to be handed over to the corproation by the territorial government.
The delegation went around the building for about 20 minutes and later held a meeting with Home and Health Minsiter E Valsaraj in his chamber.
The people of Kadirgramam, who gave the land for the government medical college and presently opposing the handing over of the building to ESIC, submitted a memorandum to the delegation, registering their protest.
They maintained that they gave the land worth Rs 2,000 per sq m for just Rs 175 on the hope that if the government medical college was established, their wards would get seat and jobs.
They said nothing would materialise if ESIC takes over the building to run its medical college.
