Doyen of Tamil theatre remembred on death anniversary

Puducherry,Nov 13(UNI) Rich tributes were paid to Sankardas Swamigal, considered the father of Tamil theatre,on his 86th death anniversary here today.

Puducherry Art and Culture minister M O H F Shajahan, CPI Puducherry unit secretary Na Ra Kalainathan MLA, and film actor Radha Ravi were among others who paid floral tributes at the Samadhi of the doyen at Karuvadikuppam near here.

They also sung songs written by Sankardas, at the samadhi.

Volunteers of the Puducherry Art and Literature Forum took out a procession to the samadhi, carrying his portraits and paid floral tributes.

Drama artistes and Tamil scholars also paid tributes.
