Shillong, Nov 13 (UNI) Three criminal cases have been registered against Meghalaya Mining and Geology Minister Donkupar Massar, Chief Minister Donkupar Roy informed the Assembly today.

Tabling his reply to a Call Attention Motion moved by Founder Strong Cajee (Congress) on the floor of the House, Dr Roy assured there will be no pressure to shelve the cases.

''I assured the members of the House that there is no pressure from any quarter to shelve the cases, and investigation will proceed strictly in compliance with the law,'' the Chief Minister stated.

Informing the House that all the cases have been registered in two separate police stations - Ranikor and Pynursla - Dr Roy said all the cases are pending investigation and are being supervised by a senior police officer.

Mr Massar has been accused of assaulting four labourers in Borsora in West Khasi Hills district and also the Pongtung village headman Wallambok Lyngdoh in East Khasi Hills district.

Two separate FIRs have been filed against Massar in Ranikor police station in West Khasi Hills and Pynursla in East Khasi Hills district.

The Minister, however, had secured anticipatory bail from Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Court with the case related to the alleged assault by him on four road construction labourers on October 3 and 4.
