Guwahati, Nov 13 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would be approached by the Assam government to probe the October 30 serial blasts in the state.
It was decided that the state government would ask the CBI to investigate the blasts at an all-party meeting, convened by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi late last evening.
The meeting adopted a resolution to seek the CBI inquiry with Mr Gogoi agreeing to take up the matter with the investigating agency. The meeting, while condemning the terror attacks, also welcomed the mass spontaneous public uprising against it and underlined the need to streamline and strengthen the mass movement.
All political parties, including Asom Gana Parishad, BJP, CPI, CPI(M), Asom United Democratic Front and senior Cabinet Ministers participated in the meeting. A Special Investigating Team (SIT) had already been constituted to conduct an inquiry with the SIT claiming major breakthrough and had also arrested 13 people till now, besides detaining many.
The ULFA and NDFB's involvement had already been proved with the SIT now looking into a third party angle.
