Chennai, Nov 13 (UNI) The main opposition AIADMK today staged a walk-out in the Tamil Nadu assembly after Speaker R Avudaiappan refused permission to supend Question Hour for the day to discuss the caste clash in Law college yesterday.
Soon after the House assembled for the day, Deputy leader of the opposition O Panneerselvam, AIADMK whip K A Sengopttayan and the party's other members demanded that the Question Hour be suspeneded to discuss an urgent issue.
They also recalled that there were precedents of Question Hour being suspended to discuss important issues.
But the Speaker said the issue could be taken up during Zero Hour and that the Question Hour could not be suspended.
Intervening, Tamil Nadu Law minister Duraimurugan said he along with opposition member D Jayakumar visited the hospital to meet those injured in the clash and also inspected the Law college campus where the clash took place.
He suggested that the discussion on the issue could be taken up after Question Hour.
But an unrelenting AIADMK members staged the walkout as the Speaker refused to oblige them.
