TN gains 264 run first innings lead, forces follow on

Bangalore, Nov 12 (UNI) Tamil Nadu dismissed Karnataka for 267 and gained a 264-run first innings lead on the penultimate day of the Ranji Trophy Elite 'B' Group Super League match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.

The hosts, who were forced to follow on, were 48 for now loss in their second innings with K B Pawan (14) and Bharath Chipli (23) at the crease.

Tamil Nadu's left arm spinner C Suresh (4/58) struck for the visitors. He was well supported by medium pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji (3/46) and off spinner R Ashwin (3/63).

Resuming at overnight total of 82 for one, Karnataka lost opener Pawan (25), adding only five runs to overnight total. However, Ganesh Satish and C Raghu who seemed to be going strong, added 68 runs for third wicket. But Ganesh fell briliantly caught at first slip by S Badrinath of C Suresh. Then Raghu and wicket keeper Thilak Naidu (41) added 61 runs for the fifth wicket.

Skipper Robbin Uthappa, who joined Raghu fell cheaply aftert facing one ball, given out leg before to R Ashwin.
