Rahul to visit Punjab on Nov 18 to announce YC poll plan
Chandigarh, Nov 12 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would arrive in Punjab on November 18 to announce the poll strategy for the state unit of the Youth Congress.
Youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar said in a press meet here today that Mr Gandhi, who is also in charge of the Youth Congress, would probably announce the election programme either in Jalandhar or in Amritsar for the block, district and state units of the Youth Congress.
He said that the unique recruitment drive for the Youth Congress in Punjab had concluded and care would be taken to keep the criminal elements out while finalising the new applications and renewing the old ones.
Similar campaigns would be taken up in four-five more states which would be concluded before the coming parliamentay election, he said.
Mr Tanwar also announced the names of six districts reserved for women, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes after a draw of lots from among 24 political districts of the party.
Among these, Ropar and Jalandhar have been reserved for women, Sangrur for women candidates belonging to SC or ST, while Patiala (City), Ludhiana (Rural) and Jalandhar (Rural) have been reserved for SC or ST candidates.
