Bangalore, Nov 12 (UNI) Karnataka Legislature has organised a three-day orientation camp for the newly-elected members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council to ensure effective functioning.
Speaking to newspersons here today, Mr Jagadish Shettar, Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly said during the camp, the newly-elected legislators would be sensitised about inter alia, Basics of Indian Constitution, Parliamentary procedures, Conducting officials business in the house, Basics of Government policies and their formulation.
There would be panel discussions on various subjects like 'Relation between Legislature, Judiciary and Executive', Legislative and Financial business', 'Powers, Privileges and Immunative powers of the members and concept of Zero Hour, Question Hour and other procedures related to the house, he said.
He said renowned experts in Parliamentary affairs and legal luminaries like Subhash Kashyap, former Union Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Arun Jaitley, Justice Rama Jois, Justice V S Malimath, Former Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar, senior Parliamentarians M C Nanaiah and M P Prakash had been invited to the camp to express their views.
He appealed to all the legislators to take benefit of the camp which is being organised in the campus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB).
To a question Mr Shettar said the State Government had to take decision to hold the session of the Karantaka Legislature in Belgaum.
Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman, Veeranna Mathikatti was also present on the occasion.
