Obama assures PM of US support to India
New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) The US president elect Barac Obama today assured Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that the new US administration would work together with India on all important global issues.
Mr Obama, who telephoned Dr Singh this morning, conveyed that the Indo-US strategical relations had a very important partnership and the new administration under him wanted to work together with the country on all important issues.
After being elected as the US president, Mr Obama wanted to talk to the Prime Minister on Saturday but as the Prime Minister was travelling to Oman and Qatar, he could not do so.
As the Prime Minister did not receive any call from Mr Obama, media reports suggested that the new president elect was ignoring India.
Mr Obama had so far called some fifteen world leaders, including Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
