New York, Nov 12 : For Svetlana Pankratova, having the world's longest legs and being recognized for it has its advantages and disadvantages.
The 36-year-old, who had recently appeared in Times Sq. to receive certification of the Guinness world record for the world's longest legs, stands 6 foot 5 inches tall and had been encouraged by her friend to enter her legs into the record books.
"I wasn't too interested in the idea at first, but she convinced me," the New York Daily News quoted the Russian record-breaker, currently in the U.S. to promote this Thursday's Guinness World Records Day 2008, as saying.
Even before she became famous, Pankratova had been a star on the basketball court after reaching her full height by the age of 16.
She played for the Virginia Commonwealth University in the U.S from 1992 to 1995, where she still holds the record for the most field goals in a single season.
But even though her legs can come in handy at times, at other she faces a big problem.
"It's challenging to travel on planes. I don't have enough legroom," Pankratova said, adding that she also has to have dress pants custom made.
And when it comes to romance, the leggy lady just does not win all with her height.
"Some (men) like it. But some, they don't like standing next to a woman that tall," she said.
"They feel intimidated," she added.
