Panaji, Nov 12 (UNI) The Goa police have decided to pursue the case of the alleged rape of a German minor girl despite her mother seeking withdrawal of the complaint against state education minister Atansio Monserrate's son, Rohit.
Talking to reporters here today, Superintendent of Police (North) Bosco George said it is a criminal matter and the court is monitoring the case.
He said the letter has ''no meaning'' and pointed out prima facie there is a case against the accused. They would continue with the investigation.
The German woman yesterday met the SP in his office to discuss the progress of the case. It is not yet known what issues she had raised with him.
She submitted the letter to the Calangute police and SP last Sunday, in which she expressed fears that her daughter might end up like British teenager Scarlett Keeling, whose bruised body was recovered from Anjuna beach in February in mysterious circumstances.
In the letter, she had stated that ''We do not wish to proceed with the complaint, which may be treated as closed.'' UNI SRN SSS RP DS1442
