DD Kashmir telecasts first live programme on Granth Sahab
Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) The Doordarshan (DD), Srinagar today telecast live the programmes on the tercentenary celebrations of the Guruship of Shri Guru Granth Sahib.
Organised live by DD, a number of renowned Sikh poets of the valley participated paying glowing tributes to the memory of Guru Gobind Singh who endowed the spiritual throne to the Holy Granth in October 1708.
The programme 'Guru Manyo Granth' dedicated in remembrance of the 300th years of consecration of Guru Granth Sahib (a Holy Scripture regarded as the guarding light for the Sikh community) was presided over by noted Kashmir poet and Jnanpith award winner Professor Rehman Rahi who recited a Kashmir translation of the Guru Gobind Singhs Gurbani.
On the occasion, the poets highlighted the noble message of the Guru Granth Sahib and responded to the queries of the viewers while delving on the sacredness of the Holy Granth and illuminating the life and contribution of the Guru Gobind Singh to Sikhism during the live interaction.
