Central Congress leaders visit poll-bound Mizoram
Aizawl, Nov 12 (UNI) With the December Two Assembly polls approaching, several Congress central leaders were visiting Mizoram to woo the electorate.
Besides, AICC secretary for the Northeast Major Ved Prakesh, who was already camping here, Union Minister B K Handique arrived here today on a two-day visit.
Along with him AICC member and Manipur Power Minister Phungzathanga also arrived today, Congress sources said.
Former MP Naresh Pugalia and former Goa Chief Minister Eduardo Faleiro, after staying here for a few days, had recently gone back.
Mr Ved Prakash would stay here till the end of the election.
The Pradesh Congress was expecting the party top brass Sonia Gandhi, AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the latter part of this month.
'' As the Nehru-Gandhi family is a favourite of the Mizos, irrespective of parties, the visit of the mother-son duo is likely to leave a positive impact in favour of the Congress, '' party sources here today said.
