Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police and officials of the Excise department destroyed banned crops over 3000 kanals of land in the Kashmir valley, official sources said today.
They said a tip off was received that some villagers were cultivating banned crops, including bungh, in their fields at Anantnag, Pulwama and Ganderbal.
During the raids banned crops over 3000 kanals of land was destroyed by the officials.
They said cases against the owners of the land have been registered. However, no one was arrested.
An official spokesman said drive against the cultivation of banned crops will continue till it is destroyed completely.
Banned crops, including charas, has been destroyed by the police and excise officials over thousands of kanals of land in the Kashmir valley during the past one year.
