Kakinada, Nov 12 (UNI) The port city police have arrested 15 ABVP leaders for confronting with the students of Aditya Junior College.
The ABVP leaders clashed with the students as they did not join them in the stir launched in support of their demand that all the Bangladesh intruders should be sent out to safeguard the country's interests and sovereignty.
Tension prevailed at the college for some time with ABVP workers staging a dharna protesting against the police action. Earlier, in response to the call given by the ABVP, students of various educational institutions in the city boycotted classes and staged a rasta roko at the JNTU Kakinada junction paralysing traffic on the Kakinada-Pithapuram road.
The demonstrators raised slogans denouncing the government's inaction in putting an end to the intrusion of people from Bangladesh in the north-eastern region. ABVP state executive member Ch Chittibabu, District unit convenor G V S Narayana have led the stir.
