Srinagar, Nov 12 (UNI) In a major drive against crime and corruption, the Crime Branch (CB) of the Jammu and Kashmir police has produced charge sheets in the court of law against 236 accused people, including 73 government employees, this year.
A spokesman of the CB said the accused people have been booked for indulging in various criminal activities which include murder, misappropriation, misusing the CST/GST numbers, land grabing, bogus finance companies, bank frauds and cheating.
He said 22 accused people involved in misappropriation cases had bungled with property valuing Rs 5531292 by fraudulent means.
Similarly 15 accused people had been booked for misusing CST/GST numbers on importing goods worthy RS 3,84,87,638 after evading tax to the tune of Rs 8,15,883 at the cost of state exchequer.
He said 27 accused people were booked for cheating innocent public for having extracted Rs 61,70,789 in the garb of providing better interest rates and other lucrative offers.
Involvement of 68 accused people was established in connection with crores of rupees, including bank frauds.
