Mangalore, Nov 11 (UNI) After the visit of police teams to Mangalore from Delhi and Mumbai to probe the terrorist connections in the city, a police team from Uttar Pradesh also arrived here on a similar mission.
According to the sources, a police team from Uttar Pradesh arrived in the city yesterday and visited various places to collect information.
However, the local police were unable to provide any information about the visit of UP police team as it was conducting the investigation on its own.
The sources revealed that a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) intelligence team led by senior police officers had taken two people from the city into custody for interrogation. The investigation was related to serial bomb blasts at various places, including Bangalore, Ahmedabad and New Delhi.
The team is said to have come here, on the basis of clues given by a few people arrested in Uttar Pradesh.
The visit of UP police has further strengthened the suspicion that the terrorist network was active in the coastal belt. Recent investigation revealed that crude bombs were made and supplied to different parts in the country from the coast here.
The UP police, which is camping in the city, is expected to conduct further investigation here and surrounding areas with the cooperation of the district police. The district police, however, maintained that they had no knowledge of the visit of the team.
