Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said the construction work of a TIDEL Park at Coimbatore would be completed by this year end.
Replying to Kovai Thangam (Congress) during Question Hour, he said the State-owned Elcot had acquired 29.08 acres of land in the first phase and 32.51 acres in the second phase near Coimbatore to set up the TIDEL Park.
Observing that the Centre had accorded permission to set-up a Special Economic Zone(SEZ), he said the Tidel Park, being constructed jointly by TIDCO, Elcot and the STPI, would be completed by the end of December this year.
The Chief Minister said in the Tidel Park, to set up ITES copmpanies, ten acres of land was allotted to Wipro and five acres to TCS. Administrative approvals had been given to Elcot for setting up an Integrated IT Park in the remaining space. The Park would have housing facility and provide a fillip to software exports and generate more jobs.
Responding to supplementaries from Mr C Gnanasekaran (Congress), Mr Karunanidhi said an IT park would also be set up in Vellore as per the announcement made in the State Budget and Elcot has been entrusted with the task of identifying lands for this purpose.
