Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 11 (UNI) Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar today said that SGPC would write to the Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan to restore the sanctity of Muzaffarabad Gurdwara in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Referring to media reports which had shown that the Gurdwara was allegedly converted into a mosque and police lines were also operating from the complex, Mr Makkar demanded that the Gurdwara be restored and the police lines operating from the place be shifted.

He said that a six-member delegation led by Sarwan Singh Shaktimaan of Patiala, president of the Central Committee of All Jammu and Kashmir Refugees (1947), had recently toured PoK and highlighted the neglected condition of the Gurdwara.

Mr Makkar also said that to foster better relationship between the SGPC and the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Committee (PSGC) more exchanges between pilgrims should take place.

He said the president of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Committee had brought nine groups of Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan for taking part in the Gurta Gaddi Diwas celebrations while eight Sikh Jathas visit Pakistan every year.
