Rodrigues to inaugurate Chandigarh Carnival on Nov 22

Chandigarh, Nov 11 (UNI) Many special features have been added to Chandigarh Carnival this year which will be inaugurated by Punjab Governor and Union Territory Administrator, General (Retd) S F Rodrigues on November 22.

Two bollywood musical nites, laughter show, amusement park, food courts, cultural events etc have been planned by the Administration for making the event a great success.

General Rodrigues will flag off the carnival parade comprising Floats, tableaux and artists from Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh Shaitya Akademi, Chandgiarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, College of Architecture, College of Arts and other educational institutes. The parade will terminate at Rose Garden facing the Carnival site.

Eminent and renowned playback singer Shreya Ghoshal will perform on the first bollywood musical nite on November 22.

Participants from foreign countries are expected to take part in the carnival and dialogue with Poland, Germany and Hungary on. The Administration has also approached the Air Force Station, Chandigarh, to participate in the mega event.

A carnival village will be set up which will have huts used as stalls. The huts are being made of bamboos, tart, mud and other handicrafts works. This year the carnival village will have 40 huts and a separate section for corporate and business houses have also been planned.

Padamshree Shri Nek Chand, founder and creator of Rock Garden, will create a mini rock garden in the designated space in the village.

There is separate space for art lovers where budding artists and amateurs will showcase their skills in painting.

Pyramid of flowers and fountains will add colors to the carnival.

Amusement Park for Children, Hanging Bridge and Children Traffic Park will be the major attraction in the carnival.

Various departments, schools of Chandigarh Administration and NGOs are participating in the Carnival. Haryana Tourism Department is putting up its 'Chaupal' where visitors could taste the cuisines from Haryana. Punjab Tourism Department is also planning to become the part of the event by setting up stalls of Punjabi cuisines.

Food Court will be set up by CITCO and stalls by Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management and Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management for providing quality food to the visitors.

The artists of North Zone Cultural Centre will also enthrall the visitors during the celebrations.
