London, November 11 : Robin Williams tickled the funny bone of fans in London by returning to the stage with a stand-up performance - three days before his announced comeback.

The actor-comedian was expected to revisit the British stage for the first time in 25 years in London theatre production 'We Are Most Amused' on November 12, as partial festivities on the royal occasion of Prince Charles' 60th birthday.

However, the Oscar-winner, who was voted 13th on "Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time", decided to surprise the audience with a preliminary act at a student bar on November 9.

For organiser Paul Jay, who was prohibited from disclosing the identity of his surprise performer before the event, it was a dream come true.

"It was the thrill of my life to have Robin Williams. He was marvellous - very, very funny," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
