Imphal, Nov 11 (UNI) More than a hundred trucks are stranded on the Manipur-Nagaland border at Mao following an economic blockade on National Highway 39, imposed by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) from November 2 to demand repair of the Highway.

Earlier, on humanitarian grounds, the SDSA had allowed 200 trucks stranded on the Highway to proceed to Imphal.

The blockade supporters have disrupted the entry of all trucks into the state. Passenger vehicles were allowed to move freely.

However, the vehicles were being checked thoroughly to see if any goods were taken for commercial purposes.

The oil stocks were getting depleted and fearing non-availability of petroleum products panic buying was being witnessed today. Prices of all essential items had also increased manifold.

Officials said state Works Minister K Ranjit, Education Minister L Jayenta and MLA K Raina had discussed the matter with the student leaders and work was on to repair the highway.
