Perambur flyover to be inaugurated by Dec 15

Perambur
flyover
project
will
be
completed
by
Dec
2009,

Stalin
said
on
Monday,
Nov

after
inspecting
the
project
site.
Eight
of
the
30
pillars
to
come
up
have
been
erected.
Though
the
targeted
date
of
completion
of
the
Rs
51
crore
project
is
Feb
2010,
the
work
would
get
over
at
least
two
months
ahead,
he
told
mediapersons.
Instead
of
deep
pile
pillars,
open
foundation
pillars
with
broad
concrete
base
have
been
proposed
for
the
1,038-metre-long
flyover,
Stalin
said.
Work
on
the
project,
entrusted
to
IVRCL
Infrastructure
and
Projects
Ltd,
commenced
about
six
months
ago
based
on
the
new
design
provided
by
Anna
University.
The
University
was
commissioned
for
the
design
after
a
technical
snag
came
in
the
way
of
the
project
being
taken
up
after
it
was
revised
in
2006.
Highlighting
the
other
infrastructure
projects
coming
up
in
north
Chennai,
he
said
work
on
eight
flyovers
and
vehicular
subways,
including
those
in
Perambur,
Villivakkam
and
Mint,
were
in
various
stages
of
implementation.
The
total
cost
of
the
projects
is
Rs
182.13
crore.
Stalin said the flyover on G N Chetty Road in T Nagar would be inaugurated by Dec 15.
