Hyderabd, Nov 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president D Srinivas today said he held discussions with the senior leaders on the poll strategy and was confident about the party retaining power in the State in the coming Assembly elections.

Addressing the media after hosting a luncheon meeting for former Chief Ministers and former PCC Presidents at his residence which Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy also attended, he said the senior leaders expressed their views on the poll campaign and strategies for the coming elections.

All the leaders were of the view that they had to work unitedly like the 2004 elections to retain power in the State.

He said the party ticket for the next elections would be given purely on merit.

The leaders discussed the proposed ''Manavaraham'' (human Chain), to be organised by the party with 50 to 60 lakh well wishers and sympathisers of the party in due course, and poll campaign and allocation of tickets to the BC candidates.

Asked whether the leaders discussed the Telangana issue, he said they did not discuss the issue as the matter was pending with AICC president Sonia Gandhi.

The PCC president earlier had a breakfast meeting with film actors, including Jayasudha, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, A Seshagiri Rao and others, who are supporting the Congress party.
