NTPC-Sipat's second 500 MW unit coal fired
New Delhi, Nov 11 (UNI) The second 500 MW unit of stage-II, NTPC- Sipat Project, situated near Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, has been successfully coal fired, after its synchronisation.
Efforts are now on to put the unit on commercial operation at the earliest.
With yesterday's synchronisation of this unit, the project has attained full capacity of 1,000 MW under stage-II. The first 500 MW unit of stage-II had began commercial operation in June this year and is consistently performing at a high plant load factor (PLF).
The ultimate approved capacity of the Sipat is 2,980 MW which includes 3 units of 660 MW super critical boilers in stage-I and 2 units of 500 MW in stage-II. All the 3 units of 660 MW are under various stages of implementation.
The beneficiaries of this project are the western region states namely Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Daman and Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
At present, NTPC has a total installed capacity of 29,894 MW from 26 power stations including joint ventures.
