Nagar Keertan taken out on eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti

Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) As part of the ongoing 539th birthday celebrations of first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh religion Guru Nanak, a colourful ''Nagar Keertan'' (holy procession) was taken out jointly by the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad (GSS) and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (GSGSS), Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj today.

GSGSS Chairman S Harmahinder Bagga, GSGSS President Gurcharan Singh Bagga and GSS President Baldev Singh Bagga said over 25,000 Sikh devotees took part in the holy procession, which was marked by carrying of Sri Guru Granth Sahibji in a colourfully decorated vehicle, followed by ''Nishaan Sahebans'' (Religious flag bearers), ''Panj Pyaras'' (five beloved ones) and demonstration of 'GATKA' (A Sikh martial art form).

The Prakash Utsav (Birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Devji falls on November 13, 2008.

A ''Vishal Deewan'' (mass congregation) will be held at NTR Stadium, Indira Park from 1030 hrs to 1630 hrs on November 13, in which over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh Devotees and people belonging to other community faiths would participate.
