Jaipur, Nov 11 (UNI) Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, three other Ministers and Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma's son sitting MLA Brij Kishore are prominent among 62 candidates who filed their nominations today in various constituencies for December 4 Assembly polls in Rajasthan.
While Mr Kataria filed papers from Udaipur as a BJP nominee, Ministers Pratap Singh Singhvi(Chhabra-BJP), Rajendra Singh Rathore(Taranagar-BJP) and Surendra Goyal(Jaitaran-BJP) and Mr Sharma(Hawa Mahal-Congress) entered the fray today.
A maximum of 8 candidates filed papers in Jaipur district while five districts Banswara, Bharatpur, Bundi, Dholpur and Jhalawar drew a blank.
In Alwar, scion of Loharu Nawab family sitting Congress MLA Aimammuddin Ahmed alias Durru Miyan filed papers from Tizara and his wife Fojia Begum filed as his covering nominee.
The process of filing nominations had begun in 200 assembly segments in the state yesterday with issuance of the election notification.
As many as 21 candidates filed papers in 18 assembly constituencies on the opening day yesterday while the remaining consituencies drew a blank. Now total number of candidates in fray so far have gone to 83.
As per the schedule announced by the Commission, the filing of nominations will continue till November 17, scrutiny will be done on November 18 and withdrawals can be made by November 20.
The polling in all the 200 assembly constituencies will be held on December 4 and counting will be done on December 8, an Election Office Spokesman said.
Around 3.62 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise even as the process of continuous revision of electoral rolls was on. Around 42,200 polling booths were being set up for the polling.
