Jaya vents ire at vandalisation of MGR statue
Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today condemned the vandalisation of a statue of the party's founder and late Chief Minsiter M G Ramachandran at Serangulam in Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu.
In a statement here, She demanded that the DMK government provide adequate protection to statues of leaders and idols kept in places of worship.
Ms Jayalalithaa said she was shocked to learn that the statue, which had been in the village for the last ten years was damaged by some miscreants.
She demanded that the DMK government take stern action against those involved in the incident.
Despite a protest demonstration by the local AIADMK functionaries, police has not arrested anyone so far, she said and accused the state government of being 'soft' towards such miscreants.
