Kota, Nov 11 (UNI) Expelled BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal, who had earlier announced to contest Assembly election against Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje from Jhalra Patan in Jhalawar district, has now decided against it.
Talking to UNI yesterday, Mr Gunjal said, ''Since noted Gujjar leader and former Jhalawar Zila Pramukh Sujan Singh has now expressed his willingness to contest election against Raje from Jhalra Patan, I am withdrawing myself to support Mr Singh and give a tough and united fight to Ms Raje.'' He said Mr Singh had announced his decision at a function in Khanpur and resolved to work to defeat the ruling BJP in all four assembly seats in Jhalawar district.
"Now I will contest election from Hindoli constituency in nearby Bundi district" Mr Gunjal has said.
Mr Gunjal had differences with the ruling BJP over the party's stand regarding the Gujjar's demand of ST status. He had publicly opposed Chief Minister Raje and her handling of the Gujjar agitation.
This had forced the BJP to expell him from the party.
Subsequently, he had resolved to defeat the ruling party in assembly election in Kota Division and to contest election against the Chief Minister from her Jhalra Patan constituency.
The ruling BJP has already refielded Raje from the same constituency.
