Govt committed to the welfare of minorities: AP CM
Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the State Government was committed to the welfare of Muslim minorities in the State.
Addressing the Haj pilgrims at Haj House here, Dr Reddy urged to them to pray to Allah for the welfare of the State during their visit to Mecca. He also lauded the presence of Haj pilgrims from Karnataka.
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Coal, Energy and Minorities Welfare, Mohd Ali Shabbir said the State Government had taken up several welfare measures for the welfare of the Muslim minorities.
Mr Shabbir said the Government and the AP State Haj Committee had taken steps for the smooth passage of pilgrims from Hyderabad.
Nearly 8,200 pilgrims were going to Mecca this year, he added.
The minister said the Government had provided Rs 70 lakh for Haj Commitee this year.
