Dorjee Khandu appreciate 'status quo' agreement
Guwahati, Nov 11: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has appreciated the joint resolution adopted by the Galo Students' Union (GSU) and Takam Mishing Porin Kebang (TMPK), Silapathar in Assam to maintain status quo in the disputed border areas between Asssam and Arunachal.
A release issued here on Tuesday, Nov 11 by Taka Sanjoy, advisor to the chief minister, said that the government should not even allow any stray incident which might damage the bond of age-old relationship between the neighbouring states.
The district administration of both states should take stringent measures against those who violate the basic rules of law and order, he said, adding, ''we should not damage the relationship between Mishings and Galos as both are the descendants of Abo-Tani, their forefather''.
The state government also thanked the West Siang, East Siang and Dhemaji (Assam) administrations for aptly handling the sensitive issue and bringing normality, the release added.
