DYFI to organise agitation in Tripura against fuel price hike
Agartala, Nov 11 (UNI) As part of nationwide agitation against the government's alleged failure to arrest fuel prices and air fare despite recession of oil prices in international market, the Tripura unit of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) would organise a statewide agitation from November 15.
Talking to UNI here yesterday, DYFI state general secretary Tapas Datta alleged that despite fall of prices of petroleum products in the international market, the domestic prices did not come down, which resulted in skyrocketting of prices of essential commodities.
''Since Tripura is a landlocked state, people are mostly dependent on air travel but due to hike of petroleum prices, both surface and air transport has become expensive. We have raised the issue several times with the Centre,'' Mr Datta said.
He said the agitation would be organised in various forms in various parts of the country and in Tripura, DYFI activists would organise rallies and processions in different locations of the state, adding the movement would continue unless the Centre reduced the prices of petrol and diesel.
