Puducherry, Nov 11(UNI) The Public Account Committee and Estimate Committee members of the territorial Assembly today strongly criticised chief secretary (CS) and other senior officials of the administration for their failure to turn up for a meeting at the premises of the government medical college building here.
In the meeting of the committees here last week it was decided to visit the government medical college building today and to conduct a survey on why the government was unable to run the medical college here. The decision was conveyed to all the senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, who is the chairperson of the society.
Accordingly, the respective committee members (eleven member) led by Leader of the Opposition and chairman of the public accounts committee A M H Nazeem and chairman estimate committee Mr Anantharaman today visited the government medical college building.
While PWD Chief Engineer, Director, Health department, Secretary, Legislative Assembly accompanied them, the chief secretary, Health secretary and PWD secretary failed to turn up.
After going around the building, they convened a meeting where Mr Anbazhagan of AIADMK and Mr Siva of DMK pointed out that there was no point in convening the meeting as top officials, including the chief secretary was not present to clarify their doubts.
Following this, it was deciced to visit the building again on next Tuesday when the chief secretary and other officials concerned should be present there without fail.
Later, talking to newspersons, Mr Nazeem said the attitude of the chief secretary and other officials need to be condemend strongly.
''We have taken the decision to visit the building last week and intimated to all officials and their failure to turn up was an insult to the legislators,'' they said.
