Belgian king lauds India's thorium research
Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) Belgian king Albert II today applauded India for its extensive research on Thorium for using it as fuel in nuclear reactors.
Interacting with nuclear scientists from India and Belgium, the King, who is leading a high-level delegation to India, said his country was keen to have collaboration with India in the coming years in these areas.
''I will be happy if we could have more mutual exchange and collaboration in some of these areas'', he added.
In this context, the King called for strengthening the scientific and technical ties between the two countries by cooperating in key sectors like nuclear energy.
''Belgium is keen to cooperate with India in the field of nuclear energy'', he said.
Observing that Belgium had carried our extensive research in the field of nuclear energy and genetic sciences, he said the technical and scientific relations between the two countries could be strengthened if India extended cooperation in these areas.
IGCAR Director Baldev Raj, who was also present, said IGCAR was doing research on using nuclear in various spheres like energy, health care and agricultural sectors.
